Let Them Eat Turf!

As the weather begins to warm up, the soil temperature under your turf is also starting to warm up. While this is great for your lawn as it prepares for new growth come spring, it is also the perfect condition for grubs to start becoming more active and begin feeding on the roots of your grass. Early this week, our Brighton Branch Manager uncovered a lawn that exposed the grub activity that is already happening on the property! They are active, and they could be feasting on your property right now! There a few quick things to look for if you are unsure about whether or not you are having a grub problem. First is you start seeing patches appearing throughout your lawn, causing an uneven appearance. This could be a sign that you are having grub activity in your soil. The second is if you start seeing skunks returning to your property. Skunks are known as memory feeders, so they tend to go back to where they “remember” where they found food, such as grubs. If you start seeing them frequent your property, this could also be an indicator that you might be having grub activity in your lawn. To avoid any future or further damage to your property, it is advised that you contact a lawn care professional immediately to come out and evaluate the situation to determine the best course of action to address the issues as well as help your lawn regain its health.
